About the Role We're seeking a detail-oriented Junior Investigative Content Writer to research, verify, and craft compelling long-form narratives that inform and engage our audience. This role is ideal for an emerging journalist or content professional who is passionate about uncovering truth, values accuracy above all else, and wants to develop their investigative reporting skills in a supportive environment. You'll work independently while leveraging modern research and verification tools to produce high-quality investigative articles. Key Responsibilities - Conduct comprehensive research using digital research tools and databases to identify credible sources, documents, and expert contacts for investigative articles - Organize and annotate research findings in collaborative workspaces, maintaining clear documentation of source materials and interview notes - Fact-check all claims, data points, and quotes against reliable sources using verification tools and fact-checking databases - Authenticate images, videos, and other multimedia content before publication to ensure accuracy and credibility - Write clear, engaging long-form articles (1,500-3,000+ words) that present complex information in an accessible narrative style - Refine drafts for clarity, grammar, and flow while maintaining a consistent editorial voice - Format and publish finalized articles on content management platforms, including metadata optimization and scheduling - Stay current on fact-checking methodologies and investigative journalism best practices Required Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, English, or related field, or equivalent practical experience - 1-2 years of writing experience (internships, freelance, or academic work considered) - Strong research skills and ability to evaluate source credibility - Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to factual accuracy - Excellent written communication skills with ability to explain complex topics clearly - Self-motivated with strong organizational and time management abilities Preferred Qualifications - Familiarity with investigative journalism principles and ethics - Experience using research databases, fact-checking tools, or content management systems - Knowledge of digital verification techniques for images and multimedia content - Published writing samples, particularly long-form or investigative pieces Tools & Platforms Perplexity, Notion, DocumentCloud, Google Fact Check Explorer, Fake News Debunker by InVID & WeVerify, ProWritingAid, Hemingway Editor, Ghost, Substack
